2022 Honda Insight vs 2022 Toyota Prius

We love showing you the similarities and differences between the vehicles that we have available here at our two White’s of Lima dealerships. With the 2022 model year beginning to get underway relatively early this year, we thought we’d get a jump start at comparing our 2022 Honda and Toyota models to one another. First up, we’re going to look at our two favorite compact hybrid sedans, the Honda Insight and Toyota Prius. For the new model year, both vehicles are carryovers with a few updates. The most exciting news is, of course, that the Prius will be getting its own Nightshade Edition trim level.

New Compact Hybrid Sedans Available in Lima OH

As you can tell from the table above, these two hybrid sedans are incredible comparable to one another, but each has its clear advantages. When it comes to performance, the Honda Insight definitely gets the edge. Its powertrain doesn’t give up much in the way of fuel economy to still deliver an extra 30 horsepower, which is a relatively decent advantage when looking at numbers like these.

Speaking of fuel efficiency though, these two sedans are actually dead even at 52 miles per gallon combined across highway and city driving. However, each is slightly better at one type of driving. The Honda Insight gets an extra mile to the gallon on the highway, but the Toyota Prius gets 1 mpg extra through the city.

The Toyota Prius has its own sizeable advantage comparable to the big leg up the Insight has in power, as shown in the fourth and final row of the table. The Toyota Prius is actually a hatchback, but the Insight is a traditional sedan. That means the Prius has a lot more to offer in terms of cargo space – more specifically, it offers an extra 12.3 cu. ft. of space in its trunk.

If you’re interested in either of these great hybrid sedans, don’t hesitate to call one of our respective dealerships. We look forward to hearing from you!
